Not Truly Understanding . . .
Man Says . . . Patiently, God Says . . .
   I'm trying.
   I'm living right.
   I'm keeping God's commandments.
   I'm doing good works.
   I'm religious.
"For by grace are ye saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, It is the gift of God, NOT of works, lest any man

"
Ephesians 2:8-9
Still Man Says . . . But God Says . . .

                   + water baptism
                   + church membership
        (Christ + something)

"And if by grace, then is it no

is no more grace.
"

God doesn't save anyone who works for it.  What good work compares with Jesus' death on the cross?  Offering God good works for sin is like putting water in a car's empty tank instead of gas!  Will water power a gasoline engine?  Neither will good works help us get to Heaven.  But God will save us by His grace if we will put our faith (trust) in His Son alone.
See what Romans 4:2-5, Romans 5:8, Titus 3:5, and Galatians 3:11 say.
